So the win of the previous night stole all of my energy and made me pass out on the bus:
Some domestic bliss:
"The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naïve and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who likes his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair." - H. L. Mencken

That’s right we finally won again at basketball and if everything goes right (aka no injuries or fights) then we should be seeing this smile a lot more:

So after a nice dinner out, we decided to have a few people over for Yachi’s birthday in an impromptu party. We got some regent’s cakes which were awesome (Mango and chocolate) and ended up chatting and playing Wisk. Yachi even won.
Here she is waiting for us to finish happy birthday:
and blowing out the candles:
It was great having everyone over and getting to catch up with them.

Some self-portraiture:
And shots o’Risk:
Sorry I realized as the game went to 4:30 AM that there were some additional photos passed midnight. Like this one of Tim being extremely OCD:
And Yachi surveying the game:
Today is Yachi's birthday and we are going to 94 stewart to celebrate. 94 stewart has become our de facto special occasion restaurant and has yet to disappoint.
Here is a spray painted tree:
And Yachi getting ready to go out:

So this Thursday marked the beginning of one of my new resolutions to cook at least once a week. I have always enjoyed cooking but made excuses to avoid doing it because I thought it took to long. Tonight I decided to step up and just start making food. Oh yeah and I forgot to go to the store so I made do with whatever was left in the fridge.
Like peppers and onions:
Which eventually paired up with baked chicken and potatoes (that Yachi had made the night before):
All for this beautiful woman:
Or at least pics of him and his moms.
Back to rocking the flash to get a little different lighting effect on stuff I have already captured without it. The pics of the grown up and baby Jesus:
And his Moms. One of the effects I really like in this photo is the ghosting on the statuette which I think you might have to click on to enlarge and see:

I know everyone thought that it was Chi-town but apparently it has turned into Seattle. People are losing their shit right now cause the wind is cresting 30 mph. It took 1.5 hours to get home in the traffic because people were afraid of being blown of the bridge into the lake. Silly drivers.
I did not take any flash shots (there goes that resolution) but I did get some cool outdoors shots of the weather:
Patriotism in a Subaru lot:
One of these trees is bound to fall over:
And a more abstract take on the trees:

More flash and somewhat willing subjects.
Thinking on the bed:
Slow shutter speed with the flash:

Even more snow yesterday. Although it only lasted for a couple of hours it was coming down at the rate of about some inches an hour. I also took a lot of shots walking around with the flash just playing around to see if I could direct it at all.
I like how the flash filled in the bushes here:
This was a little far away for the flash to hit but I still liked the photo:
Just a wall but I like how it looked:
Self-portrait walking down the street:
Playing in front of the mirrors and this was the best that turned out. Scary right :):
And a slightly less scary one:
When we got home the snow started and as I mentioned it was an insane amount of snow. Although it was gone this morning.
My favorite of the cables with crazy snow on them:
Some bamboo:
And trees with the flakes showing up in the foreground:
Street scenes which I am not as big as a fan of but they definitely show the snow:
That don't really fit anywhere else. These were primarily messing around with my camera wandering from place to place or stuck waiting for others.
Waiting for the bus and playing with composition a little bit:
A slightly different view of the space needle:
Manual focus fun with the tripod in the snow storm. I really like how the tree ended up looking:
Waiting at Pacific Place for Yachi to buy me a Christmas present. The lattice in the ceiling skylight is something I have been taking a lot of pictures of lately and this is one of the few to look even remotely presentable:
A cropped piece of graffiti:
Some garish lights downtown:
Cops at the bus situation mentioned previously:

One of my goals for this year is to pick a technique and try shooting a lot of it for a month to improve with it. For January I think I am focusing on flash which limits me to using the on camera one as I do not have an additional unit but it will force me to be a little more creative with how I approach things.
These were both taken with flash and look better than I would have expected so I will keep playing with it.
Relaxing:
And with me reflected in them:
