A day behind here and probably not going to catch up tonight. I took a lot of pictures today of all the snow and am still going through them.
This was another bit of fun with the tripod and messing with shutter speeds. It looked really bad until I thought about opening up the glass in front of the fire. Then it looked a little better.
I am cheating and backdating this post to match when I took the picture.
I really liked the contrast between the rose and the snow. It is a little soft and I need to focus more on getting a little crisper shots. I liked most other things about it though.
I am still putting together the remaining family pictures so I will post this which has been hanging around for a while.
So along with weddings this was the summer of leavings. People left Seattle to go to such far-flung places as NYC, DC, San Fran and London. For a variety of reasons I only caught one going away party on my camera. It happened to be Marques' going away party and perhaps one of the reasons I got pics was because it lasted for something like 4 days.
On the first day there was light and a gathering at Barca where we went around the table to get a photo of everyone or everyone who was there at the time.
After much chatting and drinking, dancing was in order so we all headed to the war room. As I was buying drinks I decided that 6 beers would be a good amount for me and Marques as 3 a piece seemed right. He came to the same conclusion independently and for a brief glorious moment we had 6 a piece. That ended in sadness though as fingers gave out when we decided to cheers all 12. I believe around 6 survived so it worked out in the end.
The next night took place at Satellite where we had the pleasure of witnessing a brass band playing in the streets and eventually the bar. I am not sure where they came from but it was a great time.
The next day was some buffet at the place on Lake Union. We did a non-optimal seating job so the three biggest people ended up a little crowded:
We then headed to Gasworks for some frisbee and kite flying. We also gave some tips to children rolling down the hill on how to improve their roll but they proved to be poor students.
Some serious kite flying was occuring here. Marques and Gautam managed to get the old school kite up for over an hour. Everyone else struggled with the fancy two handed kite:

A little flashy flashy today. I am not sure how but it looks like the focus point was on either side of the bracelet. I meant it to be on one side, oops. I need to learn what I did wrong :).
So the family finally headed home today and the apartment is way too quiet. It was nice having them here. I did however catch up on a lot of sleep. I woke up around sunset and managed to take a lot of pictures using a new tripod I got from my moms. This was one of my favorites as the buildings look very toy-ish.

Getting into holiday spirit. Today was not a terribly good day for pictures as I took over 100 but only found 5ish that I really like. I did have a great time otherwise though spending time with the fam.
So Thanksgiving was pretty awesome as it was the first time Yachi and I had it at our house and I was able to be more in control of what was going on, yeah control freak OCD. Actually it was most awesome for hanging out with friends and family who make Seattle home (even though they are thinner now so says a soon to come post).
The best part about hanging out with family is how your normal inhibitions go out the window as when I farted in Morgan's face:
Course I probably have done that to everyone I know.
As mentioned Ting took a lot of pictures and this was one of my favorites which was taken on turkey day as well:

I like the fact that neither of them are smiling. Also are you surprised at this point that every picture I am posting is of the baby? How could you post anything else when she is so goddamn cute. The bokeh on the ferry was great. The right level of blurriness to show off the primary focus. In addition I think my family is getting used to me taking photos at every opportunity so they are a little more relaxed around me which makes it more fun.
I realized 3 of my most recent posts had ? in the title which is lazy and lame (I love alliteration). The princess is back from her Oregon vacation and not in the best of moods. She was not feeling the camera although I like this shot even though it only shows the back of her head. It is intriguing seeing the profile without the eyes.
So serious. I am pretty happy with this. Did not need to do anything but crop the photo.
Or so said I when I saw the pictures taken of myself. So I decided to put all the portraits together of the people who made Thanksgiving so wonderful. It was a motley crew but those tend to be the most fun.
The majority of these come from the extremely serious games of risk that took place on contiguous nights and again if it looks good it was probably Ting manning the camera.
