I could only make it too 1:32 before I had to stop it. The song has always been a known atrocity but the video takes it too new levels.
It won't let me embed it but everyone should check this video out. It would have been crazy to see James Brown at the top of his game. This is him live in Paris (I am assuming as it has French credits). His energy is amazing. Perhaps he truly was the hardest working man in show business.
I know I promised pics and those will come soon but I have finally had a chance to catch up on 250+ blog posts on random music blogs I try to read and this is some of the best stuff I found that I thought a wider audience might like (Booyaa backhanded compliment!).

I have been tangentially aware of this guy and his music for a while now but just sat down tonight and listened to some cuts of his. I was pretty impressed. He has a crazy life story that he goes into here:
And makes some compelling music out of that as evidenced here:
Possibly the best movie intro ever almost entirely based on the beat coming in as the guy falls out the window.
I imagine this is going into the ether as it has been forever since I posted and a ton of crazy shit has happened in my life. I think that is why I have been avoiding posting as some of it still feels a little raw and some of it would just take too long to explain. Maybe at a later date. Anyways enjoy the saturated masterpiece that is Hype Williams and I will try to make this more consistent.

The interview also made me hanker for a slightly less hipster area then Capitol Hill as the image of any of these guys riding a single speed bike in tight black pants makes me giggle a little. Note, this is almost a complete non sequitur related to a long series of posts I was reading on reductionism in music criticism and can very safely be ignored.
As much as I rail against it at times, there are times when needless consumerism is a source of the utmost joy. Such a case is my new AWESOME sneakers . Now I understand why people get shot over scuffed sneakers. I was actually going to post a picture of myself rocking them but such a site would cause the end of the internet as we know it. Everyone would be trying to reach Blogger to see the AWESOMENESS for themselves and that would eventually go down. All of the people who had managed to save the picture would post it only to quickly cause the demise of the internet. Finally it might spill over into the real world with people breaking into one another's houses to steal computers containing the photos or even the print versions people made. Madness all around.
I also purchased a couple of CD's that I am loving. The new Epoxies EP which I am listening to as we speak. As good as their previous work with a slightly more space age feel (if that is possible) and snottier lyrics. The new M.I.A. (the real one, not this one). If anything it is more experimental than her first album while managing to maintain an amazing energy throughout. My favorite song is still birdflu for its crazy use of sounds to make rhythm. The last album of note is the old new Justice album. I think everyone knows them for D.A.N.C.E. which is a great song but the rest of the album has been pretty spectacular. Some of the songs sound like they are the logical French progression of Air or Daft Punk (which is not a bad thing in my mind). The best songs though are those that sound like they spent two years hanging out with Merzbow learning the finer points of Japanese noise and Mr. Oizo learning the finer points of moving that ass. Check out Waters of Nazereth or at least a mix that is mostly it with some more Ed Banger bananas shit for the best example of what I am talking about.

Stupid Blogger, anyways this is the second version of the post so it might be a little rushed.
The anniversary of Biggie's passing was earlier this month with the Fader hosting an hour long show dedicated to him on their Let Out podcast. It is one of the best hours of music I have heard in a while. What makes it so great is it is all the hard to find yet awesome Biggie stuff that you used to hear and spend weeks trying to find. When put together like this it is staggering how much quality shit he had that was not on any given LP.

While you are at EVR you should sign up for just about every other podcast they offer as there have been no bads ones I have heard, just too much competing for my ears.
